Buggies

Northeastern Indiana is home to the 3rd largest population of Old Order Amish with a population of 38,000. The Amish largely share a German or Swiss-German ancestry and generally use the term "Amish" only for members of their faith community, and not as an ethnic designation.

Old Order Amish differ from New Order Amish in a few distinctive ways; generally they do not cover their buggies, they do have longer beards, are less adaptable to modern conveniences, do not travel by air, and do believe in the “living hope” of salvation.

The photographs found on this website are primarily of the Old Order Amish, taken in Indiana and Ohio.
